In the ever-evolving landscape of social media marketing, staying ahead of the curve is crucial for businesses aiming to engage their audience effectively. One platform that has consistently pushed boundaries and captured the attention of younger demographics is Snapchat. With its unique features and innovative approach, Snapchat continues to be a hotbed for marketers looking to connect with their target audience in fresh and exciting ways. In this post, we’ll explore some of the top Snapchat marketing trends that are shaping the digital marketing landscape in 2024.
1. Augmented Reality (AR) Experiences
Snapchat pioneered the use of augmented reality filters, and it continues to lead the pack in this arena. AR has been a huge boost to Snapchat’s app’s appeal, infusing the Brand environment with the spirit of imagination and experimentation (source: QuickFrame). Brands are leveraging AR to create interactive experiences that captivate users and drive engagement. Whether it’s trying on virtual products or participating in branded AR games, Snapchat offers endless possibilities for brands to connect with their audience in a playful and immersive way.
2. Vertical Video Content
As more users consume content on mobile devices, the demand for vertical video has skyrocketed. Snapchat’s vertical-first approach aligns perfectly with this trend, making it an ideal platform for sharing branded content that feels native to the user experience. Brands are experimenting with vertical video ads and stories and discovering content to grab the attention of their audience and deliver compelling messages in a format that feels natural and seamless.
3. User-Generated Content (UGC) Campaigns
Authenticity is key in today’s marketing landscape, and brands are turning to user-generated content to humanize their brand and build trust with their audience. Snapchat provides a fertile ground for UGC campaigns, where brands can encourage users to create and share content related to their products or services. Whether it’s through branded hashtags, challenges, or interactive lenses, UGC campaigns on Snapchat can generate buzz and foster a sense of community around your brand.
4. Personalized Messaging
With the rise of messaging apps, personalized communication has become essential for brands looking to cut through the noise and connect with their audience on a one-on-one level. Snapchat’s Chat feature allows brands to engage in real-time conversations with their followers, providing personalized support, exclusive offers, and behind-the-scenes access. By leveraging Chat, brands can build meaningful relationships with their audience and drive loyalty over time.
5. Influencer Partnerships
Influencer marketing continues to be a powerful tool for brands seeking to reach new audiences and drive engagement. Snapchat influencers, known as Snap Stars, have built massive followings on the platform and wield significant influence over their followers’ purchasing decisions. Brands are partnering with Snap Stars to create sponsored content, takeovers, and product collaborations that resonate with their target audience and drive results.
6. Ephemeral Content
The fleeting nature of Snapchat content is part of its appeal, creating a sense of urgency and exclusivity for users. Brands are tapping into this trend by creating ephemeral content that disappears after a set period, encouraging users to act fast and engage with their brand in the moment. Whether its limited time offers, flash sales, or exclusive sneak peeks, ephemeral content on Snapchat can drive immediate action and generate buzz around your brand.

This was a good breakdown of marketing trends on Snapchat. As I am building my website and will soon be promoting my brand, social media will be essential to driving consumers to my website. These ideas will be a great starting point for me. One that was intriguing and yet confusing to me is the FOMO trend. The thought of marketing on a platform where the promotion will only be there for a while and disappear seems counterproductive, but it sounds like it is what drives today’s generation. Very interesting. Do you have a favorite marketing trend on Snapchat?
Scott –
Your input means a lot to me; thank you. Ephemeral content, or content that disappears, is my favorite Snapchat trend. It does urge people to act fast before offers disappear- no doubt.
Hi I think there is definitely a lot of potential in snapchat. It depends on your audience of course. It appeals to the younger crowd. It appeals to the younger crowd. But I think what gets most engagement is authenticity and not using fake ai. People don’t like that stuff. But they like genuine people.
Jake –
Snapchat has a lot of features that people gravitate towards. Disappearing messages are some of the biggest draws among others. No doubt younger people are the most users – there are opportunities to advertise certain products to them.
Appreciate your insight.
